A leading company in the tech sector is seeking a Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer to architect the next generation of infrastructure for a best-in-class legal benchmarking platform. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and secure deployments of their data-intensive products.
Noetica is solving critical NLP problems at the heart of the trillion-dollar capital markets ecosystem with an in-house machine learning platform and decades of ML PhD expertise. Founded in 2022 and based in New York, our high-caliber team is dedicated to bringing innovation and efficiency to legal and financial industries.
We count many of the top law firms in the world among our customers.
To date we have raised ~$30M with our last round (Series A) led by Lightspeed.
We're fortunate to have been covered by Matt Levine, Bloomberg Law, and Business Insider, amongst others, and named a top AI company 2024 and 2025 by Business Insider, CB Insights, and others.
The global capital markets are among the largest markets in the world valued at $50T+ and growing. Transactions in these markets are complex. Critical, nuanced legal terms are woven into lengthy documents. These documents must be digested and analyzed by many different parties over the course of a single transaction and multiple decisions are made based on the terms laid out and quantitative and qualitative attributes within. This fundamental need plus a booming market drives enormous demand for precise extraction and benchmarking of legal terms.
As a Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer at Noetica, you'll be a key architect and creator of our next generation of infrastructure - a single-tenant system powering a best-in-class legal benchmarking platform and the engineering and research teams building it. You will collaborate with a talented, cross-functional team of ML PhDs, legal SMEs, data, security, and product engineers, among others. Without your specialized expertise, the team risks slower, riskier deployments, performance bottlenecks, and complexity overload as demand for our data-intensive product suite multiplies. Your role directly impacts our ability to safely and effectively ship critical features by laying a secure and reliable foundation of orchestration, monitoring, and automation.
As a Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer, you will:
Build infrastructure with security and data privacy as foundational principles, not afterthoughts
Develop CI systems that are reliable and modular, making it easy for all engineers to contribute confidently
Design and build Terraform code that's clean, well-documented, and empowers engineering teams to self-serve their infrastructure needs
Extend and create reliable monitoring and deployment systems that automate releases safely and reduce the risk of production incidents
Simplify complex systems into more manageable solutions that are easier to understand and maintain
Optimize cloud costs through smart autoscaling and efficient resource orchestration based on actual workload patterns
Work with security engineers to implement access controls that protect our systems while still allowing engineers to be productive
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
6+ years of professional DevOps/SRE/platform engineering experience
Proficiency with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform
Direct experience building and maintaining single-tenant infrastructure
Strong experience designing effective CI/CD systems
Strong communication and collaboration skills
A self-starting, problem-solving approach biased towards action and scope minimization
Experience implementing monitoring and alerting across isolated environments
Experience optimizing infrastructure cost, performance, and resource utilization in data-intensive environments
Strong security background or experience working closely with security teams
Experience with disaster recovery exercises and planning
Interest in language, law, finance, or economics
Thrive in a high-leverage, fast-paced environment
The reasonably estimated yearly salary for this role is $162,000—$210,000 USD. You will also be entitled to receive a significant early stage equity package and benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset.
