Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Data Center Engineer to help design and optimize our data center infrastructure. You will lead system-level architecture, conduct analyses, and develop maintenance procedures for complex cooling, electrical, and facilities systems.

The role requires deep civil/structural engineering experience, strong collaboration across teams, and the ability to drive improvements while ensuring code compliance. Based in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12 years of experience in civil/structural or site engineering.
• Experience with building design, coordination, and construction.
• Experience implementing civil/structural engineering principles (e.g., grading and drainage, hydraulic modeling, sediment control, erosion control, or soil migration).
• Master's degree in Chartered Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of site layout, grading, drainage, road, and infrastructure layouts.
• Knowledge of water/wastewater design, hydraulic modeling, and industry construction means and methods.
• Ability to communicate technical issues through online collaboration and presentations.
• Ability to work in a team/collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Define data center system-level, product architecture, and research and development while helping to develop operations and maintenance procedures for systems/processes.
• Conduct engineering analysis and research designs and methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• Ensure designs and installations meet requirements (e.g., predicted cooling, structural, operational concerns, etc.).
