Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the Blockchain Platform team. You will help define the technical vision for infrastructure powering core crypto actions across 60+ networks and 300+ tokens.

You will lead architecture for wallet stack, indexing infrastructure, and asset identifier systems, shaping how millions of transactions execute with speed, cost efficiency, and security. The role emphasizes reliability, security, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including staff-level design and scaling of high-throughput systems.
• Hands-on experience with one or more blockchain protocols at the node or protocol level (EVM, Solana, Bitcoin, L2s).
• Proven track record leading large-scale architectural initiatives across multiple teams.
• Experience applying AI or agent-based automation to reduce operational toil with measurable results.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive multi-quarter technical strategy for Blockchain Platform across nodes, wallets, indexing, and asset lifecycle.
• Architect and evolve core platform infra for high availability, low latency, cost efficiency, and security at global scale.
• Lead end-to-end design and rollout of cross-team architectural initiatives (wallet stack rearchitecture, indexing stack redesign, asset identifier system).
• Drive engineering standards for correctness, security, reliability, testing, and observability across crypto asset operations.
• Own data-driven reliability improvements using observability signals to identify platform gaps and lead remediation.
• Represent Blockchain Platform in executive forums, align stakeholders on strategy and secure buy-in for technical bets.
