Job summary

Electronic Transaction Consultants Corporation seeks a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and operate services at the heart of our tolling and intelligent transportation platform. This cloud-native, event-driven system handles high-volume roadway transactions and payments around the clock.

You will own services end-to-end, from design through production, and Staff level will drive cross-team technical initiatives, architecture alignment, and mentorship across teams.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/SE or equivalent work experience.
• Senior level: 5+ years; Staff level: 8+ years with demonstrated leadership across teams.
• Experience designing, building, and operating distributed backend systems in production, ideally event-driven and high-volume transactions.
• Hands-on cloud platforms and Kubernetes experience (AWS/Azure/GCP, Helm, CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Design event-driven, multi-tenant microservices from domain modeling to API contracts and data schemas.
• Build high-throughput, low-latency transaction services in Rust/Go/Kotlin/Java.
• Implement event sourcing with NATS or Kafka and ensure idempotency.
• Ensure correct handling of monetary data with auditable ledgers and third-party integrations.
• Contribute to front-end work with TypeScript frameworks (Svelte/React).
• Write extensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, including concurrency checks.
• Apply secure-by-design practices (least privilege, tenant isolation, OPA).
• Own production services: instrument with metrics/logs/traces and perform root-cause analysis.
• Deploy to Kubernetes via Helm and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead architecture reviews, RFCs, and cross-team technical initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive cross-team alignment at Staff level.
