At Stealth, we’re building cutting-edge software products that empower users to extract insights from vast volumes of unstructured data. As a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our backend systems, data architecture, and development standards. You'll take the lead on designing and implementing features that leverage our NLP and machine learning infrastructure, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to bring scalable solutions to life.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build new backend features that integrate with our data pipelines and model infrastructure to help users surface insights from complex text data.
• Architect efficient, scalable systems for search, document processing, and graph-based information retrieval in collaboration with our product and research teams.
• Work alongside ML engineers and researchers to productionize models and integrate new algorithms while balancing speed, scalability, and cost.
• Build and maintain core backend services that support real-time analytics and power applications such as summarization, event detection, entity linking, and multilingual text processing.
• Contribute to internal coding best practices and mentor team members on maintainable and resilient engineering patterns.

What We’re Looking For

• Deep experience with Python and strong proficiency in at least one other object-oriented language.
• Hands-on experience with tools and frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
• Track record of owning end-to-end technical features in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Strong architectural design skills with an emphasis on long-term maintainability, reliability, and extensibility.
• Familiarity with high-throughput data pipelines and scalable data retrieval systems.
• Experience working on real-time or distributed systems in production environments.
• 5+ years of professional experience shipping production-level software.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in an AI/ML/NLP startup or product-focused environment.
• Passion for data-driven decision making — you enjoy using metrics to drive engineering tradeoffs around cost and performance.
• Exposure to information retrieval, knowledge graph generation, or document classification systems.
