Job summary

IonQ in Santa Clara, CA is hiring a Senior Staff Software Architect to lead the design and evolution of our Network Monitoring Platform. You will own end-to-end architecture for a high-scale data-intensive system deployed in the cloud and across multi-cloud environments.

You will write production Go and/or Rust code, drive critical architectural choices, and mentor senior engineers to raise platform quality. This is a hands-on leadership role at a fast-growing quantum computing company.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software or platform architecture
• 5+ years leading architecture for large-scale distributed systems
• Hands-on coding in Go and/or Rust
• Deep data modeling for high-volume systems
• Experience with telemetry ingestion pipelines and fleet management
• Cloud-native design including Kubernetes and multi-cloud environments
• Familiarity with time-series databases and event streaming
• Knowledge of graph data models for network topology

Responsibilities

• Architect cloud-native ingestion and processing pipelines for telemetry from hundreds of thousands of devices
• Define and own the platform’s unified YANG-based data model across networks
• Write and review production Go/Rust code for core components
• Define data partitioning, sharding, and retention strategies
• Lead cloud-native deployment patterns (Kubernetes, service mesh, autoscaling)
• Evaluate and drive adoption of time-series DBs, graph stores, and stream processors
• Collaborate with Product/Engineering to translate monitoring requirements into capabilities
• Mentor senior engineers through architecture reviews and coding standards
