Renesas Electronics Corporation in Palm Bay, FL seeks a Sr. Staff Applications Engineer for the HiRel product group. You will support existing analog products and new space-focused developments, including precision op-amps, instrumentation amplifiers, voltage references, ADCs, BMS, switches, current sources, isolators, and RS-422/CAN/I2C interfaces.
Python/Java/C skills and Verilog for FPGAs are a plus. You will characterize devices, generate datasheets and application notes, document tests, and
Sr. Staff application engineer for position in HiRel product group. Primary responsibilities will include supporting existing analog products as well as new product developments for the space market. Products supported include: Precision Op-amps, Instrumentation Amplifiers, Voltage References, Precision ADCs, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Analog Switches/Multiplexers, Current Sources and Drivers, Isolators, and Serial Interface (i.e. RS-422, CANBUS, I2C). Programming experience with Python, Java, and/or C languages as well as knowledge of Verilog coding with FPGAs a plus. Knowledge of using and troubleshooting PSpice models.
Device Characterization (50% of time): You will work with a very talented team of Engineers to perform various lab tests for the characterization of the different products. Prepare the validation plan and compile validation reports upon complete of bench testing/characterization. It is important to understand how the parts are tested to be able to understand their performance when assisting customers. This knowledge will aid in setting up the customer’s exact configuration for verification and characterization of a customer’s issue.
Documentation (20% of time): You will utilize FrameMaker for generating and editing Data Sheets and then work with the Technical Documentation to publish them. You will be expected to keep accurate lab notes (software of your choice) and document any test procedures for future reference. As you progress in your learning, you will be expected to generate and publish Technical Briefs, Application Notes, Customers Responses, and possibly Articles.
Customer Support (20% of time): You will work with marketing and sales to facilitate the design-in of our products as well as provide technical assistance to address customer questions and analyze field returns. You will train Field Application Engineers on products and demonstrations systems to enhance sales channel effectiveness.
New Product Definition (10%):Work with Marketing, Customer, Design and Product engineering teams to help define new products.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS: Need for candidate is time sensitive and therefore preferred to be a US citizen or have a green card.
Candidate must possess a minimum bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Candidate should be self-motivated and conscientious.
Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Candidate must have good presentation skills.
Candidate should have a good knowledge of analog design and lab troubleshooting skills.
Candidate must understand and follow industry standards of test for ICs.
Required Skills: 7 to 10+ Years in Applications and/or Systems Engineering role in Analog IC Development or Circuit Design Industry.
Proficient with analog and mixed signal designs.
Proficient with electronic bench lab equipment (power supplies, function generators, multi-meters, oscilloscopes).
Experience in Schematic/Layout design tools and switching power supply layout concepts (Altium preferred).
Familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point).
Experience writing programming code (i.e. Python) to automate lab bench equipment in GBIP/USB communication a plus.
Experience modeling circuits (SPICE and or IBIS) is desired but not mandatory.
