Job summary

Ledgent Finance & Accounting’s client in Georgia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Accountant to strengthen financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls in a retail-focused environment.

You will support close cycles, SOX procedures, and collaborate with auditors while applying US GAAP (ASC 606/740/842) and ERP systems to drive accuracy and efficiency. Relocation to Savannah is considered, with assistance offered. Salary range USD 85,000–100,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Public accounting experience or SEC client exposure preferred.
• SOX compliance understanding and control testing experience.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP including ASC 606, ASC 740, ASC 842 preferred.
• Experience with retail ERP platforms is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Clear, professional communication across teams and levels.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles with journal entries and analyses.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Assist with internal and external reporting, including SEC-related filings exposure.
• Execute SOX control testing and risk assessment activities.
• Coordinate with auditors; prepare documentation and remediation support.
• Apply accounting guidance on revenue, taxes, and leases as needed.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve workflows and processes.
• Support ongoing analyses and documentation in technical accounting areas (lease accounting preferred).
• Assist with enhancements to accounting systems and retail ERP reporting tools.
• Take ownership of small-scale initiatives to improve accuracy and transparency.
