Job summary

Generac Power Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join the onsite Accounting GPS team in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

You will support advanced financial functions, including journal entries, GL reconciliation, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, with a focus on accuracy and timely reporting. You will collaborate across internal teams, help test SAP or OneStream processes, and contribute to audits and continuous improvement initiatives while coaching the GL intern and ensuring high-quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• CPA/CMP Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complex account analyses and journal entries for month-end close.
• Own elevated accounting processes including freight, leases, extended warranty amortization, deferred revenue amortization, and intercompany transactions.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare supporting schedules.
• Assist with SAP or OneStream implementations and testing.
• Collaborate with internal and external audits.
• Draft and maintain process documentation.
• Coach and supervise the general ledger intern.
• Drive continuous process improvement projects.

We believe power is a promise - a shared commitment to be there for others when it matters most.For more than 65 years, we've turned big ideas into solutions that help protect homes, strengthen businesses and build a more resilient, efficient, sustainable energy future.Ready to Power a Smarter World with us?In the role of Senior Staff Accountant working onsite in Waukesha, Wisconsin you will be part of the Accounting GPS team.Under the direction of the Manager Accounting, the Senior Staff Accountant provides support for advanced financial functions including creating and posting journal entries, general ledger account reconciliation and analysis, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, fulfilling various internal and external audit requests, and financial reporting and analysis.Month End Close ResponsibilitiesActively participate in month-end closing process by accurately and timely preparing complex account analysis and related journal entries.Demonstrate ownership of elevated accounting processes including but not limited to: freight, leases, extended warranty amortization, deferred revenue amortization, and intercompany transactions.Reconcile and understand the intricacies of various advanced general ledger accounts and prepare related supporting schedules.Analyze OPEX financial statements and provide in-depth account level analysis on month over month and actual to forecast variances.Project and Non-Close ResponsibilitiesAssist with implementation or testing of new SAP or OneStream processes.Interdepartmental collaboration and financial support.Assist with various internal and external audits.Create and maintain written processes and procedure documentation.Focus on accuracy of work product with a drive towards continuous process improvement.Assist Manager Accounting and Controller with moving Continuous Improvement projects forward.Oversight of general ledger intern, their workload & provide coaching and instruction as needed.Ownership of special projects and driving them to completion.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Job RequirementsEducation Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting or FinanceWork Experience5+ years of related experienceKnowledge / Skills / AbilitiesDisplayed knowledge of advanced accounting acumen.Ability to consistently demonstrate written and verbal communication of analysis, trends, and accounting treatment to upper management.Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley, GAAP and FASB.Goal-oriented and able to meet aggressive deadlines.Preferred Job RequirementsCertification / License CPA/CMP CertificationWork ExperienceExperience in SAP or similar ERPExperience in OneStreamTechnical experience in public accountingKnowledge / Skills / AbilitiesExperience in AI Automation related to month end processes.#LI-BB1Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
