As a faith-based Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we serve approximately 60,000 patients each year across our Memphis health centers, offering primary care, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and specialty services.

About the Role

Christ Community Health Services is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to support the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the organization's financial records. This position is responsible for accounting entries, banking activity, account reconciliations, payroll-related journal entries, and other general-ledger responsibilities.

Why Join CCHS?
  • Support the financial operations of a mission-driven healthcare organization serving underserved communities.
  • Work with payroll, banking, revenue, receivables, and general-ledger processes across the organization.
  • Contribute to accurate financial reporting, audit readiness, and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.

  • Humble Excellence - Maintaining accurate financial records, meeting deadlines, and pursuing high professional standards while remaining teachable and Christ-centered.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries and financial reports, including paid-time-off and payroll accruals, and maintain supporting payroll files.
  • Audit payroll deductions for accuracy and appropriate documentation.
  • Prepare a daily cash report using the outstanding-check list, accounts-payable aging, and general ledger.
  • Record daily bank transactions and reconcile bank accounts on a timely basis.
  • Reconcile clinic daily cash activity and the related clearing account.
  • Reconcile prepaid expenses and other current-asset accounts.
  • Record, reconcile, and invoice accounts receivable activity.
  • Assist with the monthly close of assigned revenue systems on a rotating schedule and prepare the journal entries required to record revenue accurately.
  • Prepare audit schedules, account analyses, and supporting documentation for the annual financial audit and Uniform Data System reporting.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies affecting payroll, banking, cash, receivables, revenue, and general-ledger accounts.
  • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation in accordance with internal controls and organizational requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Finance operations and the mission of CCHS.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • One to two years of accounting experience involving payroll processing, bank reconciliation, and general-ledger activity.
  • Working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, accounts receivable, and month-end close processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage recurring deadlines and multiple accounting priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, accounting systems, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to handle payroll and financial information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams.
  • No license or certification is required for this position.
What Success Looks Like
