Job summary

ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc in Lewis Center, OH seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to support project costs, journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals. Candidates should have strong analytical skills, experience with Excel and JDE, and be able to work with minimal supervision while ensuring SOX compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred) and exposure to manufacturing or job cost accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA preferred.
• Experience with percentage of completion accounting is a definite asset.
• Exposure to manufacturing or job cost accounting environment preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (verbal and written).
• Hands-on, detail- and results-oriented; able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day preparation and processing of journal entries.
• Reconcile accounts and analyze income statements and balance sheets.
• Prepare weekly forecast cash flows and monthly metrics reports.
• Assist in monthly general ledger and related reports.
• Support internal and external auditors and SOX procedures.
• Lead or support ad-hoc accounting projects and yearly planning.

Senior Staff Accountant

Location: Lewis Center, OH, US, 43035-9445

Job Description

The Staff Accountant position will support various aspects of finance and accounting with an emphasis on project costs. This position requires solid accounting experience combined with strong analytical skills. The individual will need to possess strong problem-solving skills, work ethic, ability to work with minimal supervision, highly independent and dependable, have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, decision making skills and can work with others. This position will also require general accounting responsibilities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals. Adhere to all established procedures as defined by SOX, ATS Quality Procedures, Process Flows, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures, and the Employee Handbook.

Specific Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Accounting

• Responsible for the day-to-day preparation and management of most journal entries.
• Responsible for reconciliation of accounts.
• Complete and analyze the income statement.
• Complete and analyze the Balance Sheet.
• Prepare forecast cash flows weekly
• Responsible for the preparation of the monthly Metrics Report.
• Annually count the fixed assets and inventory and evaluate for potential impairment of fixed assets and inventory.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly General Ledger and supplementary reports.
• Maintain/update the write-ups compliant with SOX requirements.
• Support internal and external auditors as required.
• Lead or support ad-hoc accounting projects as needed
• Participate in the yearly planning process

Internal Control, Policies and Procedures

• Ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner within the division and that the financial reporting standards are applied consistently.
• Regularly review policies and procedures with Divisional Controller and accounting team, to develop an ATS best practice approach for the financial management of the company.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of company policies and procedures.
• Ensure the safeguarding of company assets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent business degree, CPA preferred

Experience:

• Previous exposure to Percentage of Completion Accounting a definite asset
• Exposure to a manufacturing or job cost accounting environment is preferable
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization both verbal and in written
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong analytical, financial reporting and accounting skills as well superior computer skills (advanced knowledge of Excel, JDE experience a definite asset)
• Must be hands-on, detail and results-oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines
