Job summary

HHM Hotels seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to manage accounting activities for a group of hotels, including journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting.

The role requires formal accounting training and a degree, with strong Excel skills and experience in hospitality finance. You will support internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines and collaborate with property-level teams. This role may require extended hours to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Formal training in accounting is required.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred.
• Hospitality experience is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to exercise judgment in the absence of the controller.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review ledger reconciliations for bank, prepaid, assets, liabilities and cards.
• Monitor coding to ensure accuracy.
• Adhere to internal controls per SOX narratives and related tests.
• Prepare and review general ledger entries and monthly financial reports.
• Assist with other accounting team activities and communicate with property-level staff.
• Support EarthView sustainability guidelines as applicable.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare and review ledger account reconciliations including bank accounts, prepaid and other assets, liabilities and credit cards.
• Monitor coding to ensure accuracy.
• Adhere to internal financial controls as directed by the Company's Sarbanes-Oxley narratives, including sales journal verifications, bank, general ledger and subsidiary ledger account reconciliations, revenue testing, and other tests and procedures as required.
• Prepare and/or review general ledger entries and present financial reports on a monthly basis.
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of various schedules and supporting documents as required.
• Assist with other accounting team activities as required, communicating both verbally and in writing with team members and property-level associates.
• Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM's EarthView program.
• Practice safe work habits.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Position Requirements

• Formal training in accounting required.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred.
• Prior hospitality related experience preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate skills with Excel.
• Ability to exercise judgment in the absence of the controller or assistant controller is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment and Context

• Requires sitting for extended periods, use of hands and fingers to operate computers and keyboards.
• May require extended work hours and work on holidays or weekends to meet key deadlines.
