Purpose:

The Senior Staff Accountant will primarily be responsible for monitoring general accounting practices, budgeting, and developing internal accounting controls for multiple corporate entities.

Required Duties:

• Review monthly financial statements and bank reconciliations for operating and corporate entities
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure that there is a process back up in place for every critical operation
• Prepare year end work papers for financial statements and tax returns
• Develop monthly and quarterly reports for the management and executive team
• Oversee and support account payable function
• Develop, enhance and monitor existing accounting policies and processes
• Ensure compliance with all internal control requirements
• Implement and monitor the month, quarter, and year-end accounting schedules for all entities.
• Work with budgets and forecasts for corporate entities
• Monitor emerging technology to determine ways to automate accounting processes without sacrificing accuracy
• Support tax planning for organization
• Other duties as assigned

Must Possess:

• Strong communication skills: verbal, listening and written
• Understand and use technology to aid and drive accounting strategies
• Capable of seeking out new ideas, exhibit initiative, and be proactive

Required Skills:

• BS in Accounting/Finance
• CPA Certification preferred
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, public accountings experience plus
• Proficient in other Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel, Power Point and data query tools
• Prior experience with Yardi, QuickBooks or similar ERP G/L module a plus

Physical Demands of Job:

• Frequent hand motion with answering and dialing phones, computer work
• Occasional carrying and lifting of 15 pounds to perform various duties
• Occasional immediate reaching and overhead reaching to perform various duties
• Occasional standing or walking for short amounts of time to perform various duties
• Extended sitting for long periods of time at desk or workstation
