Job summary

MeatEater, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of our multi-brand media, e-commerce, and wholesale business. You will work hands-on to ensure accurate reporting and provide insights as we scale, collaborating across teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and 3+ years of accounting experience, with proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite preferred). A hybrid work environment is offered.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience; inventory experience is a plus.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite is a plus).
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, inventory, COGS, Fixed Assets, etc.).
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and key general ledger accounts.
• Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements.
• Maintain close schedule and ensure deadlines are met.
• Process vendor invoices and POs; record cash receipts and payments across platforms.

As a Senior Staff Accountant at MeatEater, Inc., you’ll support the financial operations of our multi-brand media, e-commerce, and wholesale business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment, enjoys working cross‑functionally, and is looking to grow within a dynamic accounting team. Your work will directly support accurate financial reporting and provide valuable insights as we continue to scale.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close

• Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, inventory, COGS, Fixed Assets, etc.)
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and key general ledger accounts
• Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements
• Maintain close schedule and ensure deadlines are met

Daily & Weekly Accounting Tasks

• Process vendor invoices and POs
• Reconcile and record cash receipts and payment transactions across platforms (e.g. Shopify, Amazon, Stripe, NetSuite, etc.)
• Support intercompany transaction reconciliations

Inventory & Cost Accounting

• Reconcile inventory across systems and warehouses
• Record landed costs and perform COGS analysis
• Partner with operations and supply chain to ensure inventory accuracy

Compliance & Internal Controls

• Support audits and financial reviews by preparing schedules and documentation
• Help implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls
• Track, update and interface with third‑party platform for sales tax compliance
• Other duties as beneficial for MeatEater

Requirements
