Job summary

Alphatec Spine, Inc. seeks a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to own and improve the reliability of the Informatix cloud platform, reduce toil, and automate operational tasks with robust observability and incident response.

You will lead on-call rotations, develop runbooks, and implement SLOs/SLA dashboards in Azure AKS environments, leveraging Terraform and other IaC tools to ensure scalable, compliant production systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, systems engineering, or DevOps roles.
• Expertise in monitoring and observability platforms (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Azure Monitor).
• Strong incident response, root cause analysis, and on-call rotations.
• Deep knowledge of Azure, including AKS, networking, storage, and Istio.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell.
• Familiarity with IaC tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Experience implementing SLIs/SLOs and operational dashboards.
• Comfortable designing for resiliency and failover.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary contributor to the on-call rotation to maintain 24/7 uptime for production systems.
• Proactively monitor and optimize SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs across critical services.
• Develop and maintain observability tooling including logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Conduct postmortems and root cause analysis; implement fixes to prevent repeats.
• Eliminate toil through automation and scripting.
• Design and maintain automated incident detection and response systems.
• Develop runbooks, playbooks, and escalation protocols.
• Contribute to chaos testing and failure injection to uncover weaknesses.
• Promote operational excellence through data-driven reliability practices.
