Duolingo is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our world-class engineering team in New York. You will collaborate with product and platform engineers to keep our distributed systems reliable, scalable, and observable, enabling millions of users to learn with confidence.

You’ll own incident response, drive automation, and help design resilient platforms while shipping features at pace across a massive user base. This role emphasizes reliability, speed, and growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience within site reliability engineering/DevOps of a product with millions of users.
• Experience identifying and solving issues in large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with Java, Kotlin, Python or Go.
• Understanding containerization toolsets and container orchestration technologies (Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes, Nomad, etc)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product and platform teams to improve reliability of distributed systems.
• Identify instability sources and drive operational excellence.
• Support core infrastructure: diagnose, debug, and improve production systems.
• Lead incident response and postmortem processes.
• Develop tooling to reduce toil and automate operations.
• Collaborate on releasing new features while ensuring reliability.
• Provide design input for scalable architectures and performance.
