Summary: We’re in search of a Senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA with strong experience in database administration, performance tuning, security, and backup/recovery. Must have hands‑on experience with SSRS report development and reporting tools such as Tableau and Workiva/Wdata. The role involves troubleshooting complex databases and application issues while supporting development teams and business users. Expertise in database design, data modelling, SQL optimization, and enterprise‑level SQL Server environments is required.

Job Title: Senior SQL Server DBA
Location: Frankfort, KY
Duration: Long‑term Indefinite Contract

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Microsoft SQL Server Administrator, monitoring and optimizing database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and capacity planning. Managing database security, user access, encryption, backup.
• Provide technical expertise for data administration, database programming, and CABINET’s Line of Business (LOB) applications, including mentoring development staff on SQL optimization and performance enhancements.
• Design, develop, modify, and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports; collaborate with business users and analysts to gather reporting requirements and deliver accurate, efficient reporting solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production database, LOB, and data integrity issues; provide technical support to development teams and serve as a subject matter expert in data integration functions.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to evaluate user requirements and support the application development and data needs.
• Communicate complex technical concepts, processes, and solutions effectively to technical staff, non‑technical users, vendors, and other state organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Five (5) years of experience as a Database Administrator – Senior role.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Management software, Visual Studio, and Team Foundation Server.
• Knowledge of database design principles, data modelling, data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and reporting tools Tableau and Workiva/Wdata.
• Solid problem‑solving skills with a proven ability to manage and troubleshoot complex database, application, and data integrity issues.
• Skill in analyzing technical requirements and implementing effective database and application solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business and technical needs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
