Job summary

Abacus Staffing & Services Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a Sr. SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA) with 12+ years of hands-on experience to lead critical SQL Server environments in a remote setup. The role emphasizes Azure cloud, performance optimization, and robust HA/DR planning.

The ideal candidate will review complex SQL code, implement cloud migrations, and automate tasks via PowerShell and SQL Agent, ensuring secure, scalable, and highly available databases for enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of hands-on SQL Server Database Administration experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of Azure Cloud experience (PaaS & IaaS).
• Minimum 8+ years of Performance Tuning & Optimization.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server 2012/2016 and above.
• Advanced SQL code reviews, execution plan analysis, indexing, and query optimization.
• Expertise in High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), Always On Availability Groups, and Distributed AG.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL IaaS/PaaS, cloud migration, and failover groups.
• Strong knowledge of backup, restore, recovery, database security, TDE, and auditing.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting, SQL Agent, and database automation.
• Proven Lead/SME experience with strong hands-on technical expertise.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex SQL Server environments across production systems.
• Review SQL code, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize performance.
• Implement HA/DR strategies using Always On and failover groups.
• Mioneer cloud migrations to Azure SQL IaaS/PaaS and optimize cost/performance.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and SQL Agent.
