Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Senior Sprinkler Technician to lead complex sprinkler system service and testing projects at mission-critical facilities.

The role requires extensive field experience, NFPA knowledge, and a drive for excellence in engineering and safety. You will oversee inspections, diagnostics, and maintenance of fire protection systems, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or 10+ years relevant experience.
• NICET III certification required within 90 days of employment; NICET IV preferred.
• State Backflow and Fire Pump certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of NFPA 25, NFPA 13, NEC, OSHA and related industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead sprinkler system servicing including inspections, troubleshooting and repairs.
• Plan and perform inspections and testing of fire alarm, special hazard systems, kitchen hoods and preaction systems.
• Provide expert diagnostics and solutions for sprinkler and preaction system issues.
• Oversee testing of all fire suppression systems.
• Develop maintenance strategies, upgrades, and life-cycle enhancements.
• Mentor junior technicians and conduct trainings on sprinkler systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale projects.
• Assess performance data and recommend improvements for efficiency.
• Stay current with industry developments, standards and regulatory changes.
• Ensure safety, quality and customer satisfaction in all activities.
• Serve as SME and provide remote assistance to team members.
• Lead sprinkler system surveys to assess NFPA compliance and performance.
• Prepare and review installation, commissioning, testing, and procedures documents.
• Be on rotation for after-hours service calls.

The role of a Senior Sprinkler Technician represents the highest level of technical expertise and leadership in the field of fire sprinkler system service and testing. Sprinkler Technician 4 holds a senior position within the team, responsible for leading complex projects, providing strategic guidance, and mentoring junior technicians. The role involves overseeing critical system inspections, resolving intricate technical challenges, and ensuring the superior performance and compliance of sprinkler systems. Clearance/Citizen Type: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements including U.S. citizenship for access to classified information. (Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance required.)

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of sprinkler system servicing, including advanced inspections, complex troubleshooting, and in-depth repairs.
• Plan and perform inspections and testing of fire alarm, special hazard systems, kitchen hoods and preaction systems.
• Provide expert-level diagnostics and solutions for challenging technical issues in sprinkler and preaction systems to maintain optimal functionality.
• Oversee and conduct testing of all types of fire suppression systems
• Develop and implement advanced maintenance strategies, system upgrades, and enhancement plans to optimize system performance.
• Mentor and guide junior technicians, imparting knowledge, skills, and best practices for effective service delivery.
• Develop training plans and conduct trainings of different aspects of fire alarm systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, execute, and oversee large-scale projects involving fire alarm systems.
• Conduct thorough system assessments, analyze performance data, and recommend system enhancements for maximum efficiency.
• Stay abreast of industry developments, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
• Emphasize safety, quality service delivery, and customer satisfaction in all service activities, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and professionalism.
• Serve as subject matter expert and provide remote assistance to other team members for all aspects of sprinkler system servicing.
• Serve as quality control authority for assessing work of other team members.
• Lead and manage sprinkler system survey to identify system condition, compliance with NFPA Codes and other applicable codes and regulations, analyze coverage, functionality, provide assessment and recommendation for system performance improvement and life prolongation.
• Prepare, review and assess various documentations in regard to sprinkler system installation, service and maintenance, including but not limited to installation plan, commissioning plan, testing plan, methods of procedure, schedule etc.
• Be on rotation to respond to afterhours service calls as scheduled by supervisor.
