Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
  • 5-10 years of relative experience.
  • DoD 8570.01M IAT II certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Install updates and patches on the Splunk platform.
  • Create alerts and notifications for unusual activity or failures.
  • Maintain documentation of configurations and changes.
  • Troubleshoot system issues to identify root causes.
  • Analyze data to identify patterns and trends.
  • Provide end-user support for system issues.
  • Audit and review security practices to prevent incidents.
  • Submit timesheets at end of pay period.
  • Submit Monthly Status Reports (MSR) to Project Manager by COB.
  • Complete required compliance training.

Senior Splunk Systems Administrator

Department: Operations – Services
Reports To: RavenTek Program Manager
Location: MacDill Air Force Base, FL.
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Senior Splunk Systems Administrator supports the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) – located at the SOCOM Headquarters at MacDill, AFB FL. This is a hands‑on role involving the setup, monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading of the Splunk Platform. The position monitors system performance and capacity to ensure it can handle the workload of the entire organization and configures new data inputs to allow collection of new data types or formats. The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps), maintain systems and network infrastructure, provide end‑user and common device support, provide configuration, change, license, and asset management, conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and the end‑user who operates around the globe 24x7x365. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek's performance on the contract, and therefore RavenTek's mission to support SITEC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install updates and patches on the Splunk platform to ensure it is running smoothly.
  • Create alerts and notifications to notify stakeholders of unusual activity such as security breaches or system failures.
  • Maintain documentation of all configurations and changes to the system.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting when issues occur with the system to identify the cause.
  • Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, or other useful information.
  • Provide support to users who are having problems with the system or using it incorrectly.
  • Audit and reviews security practices to prevent security incidents, such as data breaches, denial of service attacks, or malware infections.
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
  • Complete and submit Monthly Status Reports (MSR) to the Project Manager by COB on the last working day of the month.
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned.
  • Monitor and respond to RavenTek email a minimum of 3 times per week.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Critical Skills
  • Experience with Splunk development/administration, installation, configuration, clustering, monitoring, query design, and dashboard design.
  • Experience with Splunk administration, configuration, and tuning large environments.
  • Experience with data onboarding, Splunk Tas.
  • Experience developing/delivering presentations to management and stakeholders.
  • Experience in SPLUNK, Compuware Dynatrace, UEM, APMaas (Gomez), Foglight and ELK ASP.Net, C#, XML, HTML, JAVA Script, CSS, SQL, and Python scripting.
  • Experience with Splunk Enterprise on AWS is desired.

Work Environment

Essential functions will be completed in a typical indoor office environment with regular exposure to video monitors. When working on‑site, employee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust.

Physical Demands

Employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; see, talk and hear. Most positions require ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
