Job summary

HealthPartners seeks a Splunk Engineer to support enterprise monitoring, observability, alerting, and dashboard development across applications, infrastructure, cloud, and support teams.

The role advances observability capabilities, helping teams identify issues, improve performance, and respond to incidents in real time. Hybrid work available; strongest candidates will collaborate across IT groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience.
• Six years of engineering experience.
• Four years supporting production platforms incl. monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrades, and incident response.
• Hands-on Splunk Enterprise administration: indexers, search heads, forwarders, apps, data inputs, role-based access.
• Demonstrated initiative, ability to work independently and deliver results.
• Strong collaboration across cross-functional technical teams.
• Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, processes.
• Experience with source control and deployment tools for Splunk configurations.
• Knowledge of networking, storage, OS, and virtualization.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Automates repeatable Splunk administration, deployment, validation, and maintenance tasks.
• Installs, configures, upgrades, and operates Splunk Enterprise components, apps, and supporting tools.
• Maintains performance, availability, capacity, and scalability of distributed Splunk environments.
• Onboards and validates data sources; develops searches, alerts, dashboards, and reports for operational visibility.
• Troubleshoots development and production problems across environments and OSes.
• Participates in high availability and disaster recovery testing.
• Creates and maintains platform standards, diagrams, and operational docs.
• Mentors junior staff.
• Participates in rotating on-call pool.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
