Job summary

Longhorn Village in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Speech-Language Therapist to evaluate and treat residents and work with a dedicated rehab team. The role emphasizes geriatric care, documentation, and collaboration with physicians and staff to maintain high standards of resident well-being.

The licensed therapist will develop evidence-based treatment plans, provide restorative services, and participate in discharge planning while adhering to Medicare and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited college or university with a valid state license or eligibility to obtain license in state where services are provided with Certificate of Clinical Competence/CCC as awarded by ASHA.
• Must be able to read regulations and write clearly.
• Must be able to communicate in courteous, friendly manner.
• Ability to effectively manage and direct subordinates.
• Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies/personnel and the general public.
• Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc, that are necessary for providing quality resident care.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a positive attitude and team building approach with all patients, clients and team members.
• Maintains productivity standard as determined by supervisor and clinical needs.
• Evaluates patients based upon the physician referral/orders.
• Develop effective treatment plans with functional, goal based outcomes and ensure approval/orders for services from referring physicians.
• Treat patients according to treatment plan.
• Record clinical documentation according to accepted regulatory and professional guidelines.
• Record daily treatment charges per approved billing guidelines.
• Instruct families and nursing staff regarding restorative/home programs.
• Participate in discharge planning.
• Communicates with supervisor and other health staff regarding patient progress, problems and plans.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and other meeting as required or directed.
