Job summary

Fisica, Inc. in San Leandro, CA, seeks a Sr. Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer to lead methods development, BOM accuracy, and process optimization for assemblies. You will work with Engineering, Program Management, Material Planning and Production to ensure compliant, efficient manufacturing.

This senior role requires CAD tooling design with Creo, cost reduction focus, and strong communication to coordinate cross-functionally, including suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in mechanical/manufacturing/industrial engineering or related field.
  • Six or more years of sustaining engineering in electro-mechanical assembly or ten years without degree.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings for manufacturability, reliability, quality requirements, and develop manufacturing plans, including cost to manufacture.
  • Convert engineering documentation to manufacturing-ready formats and establish accurate BOMs and engineering change control.
  • Write, review, and update operation routing sheets; generate manufacturing BOMs for fabrication and assembly.
  • Review detail drawings with GD&T and ensure compliance across processes.
  • Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling using Creo Parametric or other CAD tools.
  • Provide sustaining production support and drive improvements to reduce costs and increase yield.
  • Interface with suppliers for process support and cost estimates; perform cost analyses for tooling and facilities.

Job Title: Sr. Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer
Location: San Leandro, CA
Business Unit: Randtron
Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off.

Position Overview

The Sr. Spec, Manufacturing Engineer is a senior level professional position that interfaces with Engineering, Program Management, Material Planning, and Production to ensure documentation and processes meet manufacturing requirements. Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies. Estimates manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements for new and existing product lines. Designs and implements the necessary tooling, jigs, and fixtures in support of assembly and fabrication. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities
  • Review new and revised engineering drawings for manufacturability, reliability, quality requirements, and develop manufacturing plans, including cost to manufacture.
  • Convert engineering documentation to a form necessary for manufacturing, ensuring accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering change control.
  • Write, review, and update operations routing sheets for fabrication and assembly processes. Generate manufacturing BOMs.
  • Ability to review detail and assembly drawings with both conventional and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling using Creo Parametric or other CAD modeling system.
  • Provide sustaining production support in resolving problems and improving procedures and processes for production released products.
  • Interface with suppliers as required for process support.
  • Perform analyses for manufacturing process cost estimates, tool development estimates, and facilities related costs.
  • Design and implement techniques that will increase yield and reduce production costs. Experience with lean manufacturing / 6S techniques is preferred.
  • Prepare office, factory plans, and layouts, as required.
  • Serve as a member of Change Control Board (CCB) and Preliminary Review Board (PRB).
  • Conduct audits as required to ensure process capability both within Randtron and at outside suppliers.
  • May be responsible for recommending corrective action where EH&S hazards exist.
Qualifications
  • Requires a B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related technical discipline) with a minimum of six (6) years of prior experience. A master's degree (M.S. or M.E.) with a minimum of four (4) years of prior related experience will also be considered. Candidates without either of the above degrees will be considered with a minimum of ten (10) years of prior related experience performing sustaining engineering activities in an electro-mechanical assembly environment.
  • Requires an understanding of tool design principles, material handling, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • The ability to interact well with others and demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills is a must.
  • A strong knowledge of current applications in the Microsoft Office 365 product family is required. Experience with CAD drawing applications such as CREO Parametric (preferred) is desired.
  • Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution (MES) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10%.

  • Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends and travel on occasion.
  • Ability to type for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Based upon your job duties, and need to visit different areas within Fisica, you may be exposed to; fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and ACGIH exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment.
  • May be required to move items weighing up to 25 pounds for distances of up to 25 feet.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), as necessary.
  • Must be required to obtain a Security Clearance. The a bility to obtain a future Security Clearance isrequired for the role. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens areeligible for a security clearance.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is 94,000-175,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. Fisica Inc. also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), PTO, EAP, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, and schedule type.
