Overview

Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Corporate and M&A

Practical Law US is looking for a Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Corporate and M&A with expertise in corporate law and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). This Editor will research, write, edit, publish and update on-line content for Practical Law's Corporate and M&A subscribers, including practice notes, checklists, and standard forms, written in accordance with Practical Law's writing style. This editor will also collaborate on Thomson Reuters' other offerings, particularly in the legal technology space with AI, such as CoCounsel.

About the Role

As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor, you will:

  • Write, edit, and update Practical Law know-how and current awareness resources, primarily in corporate law, business counseling, and M&A;
  • Maintain and develop expertise on a broad range of corporate and M&A topics and ensure that Practical Law resources reflect the latest legal and practice developments;
  • Collaborate with other Practical Law Corporate and M&A editors and other Practical Law services on content planning and priorities, resource production, and peer review;
  • Demonstrate and develop expertise in content and technology tools used to create and publish resources;
  • Collaborate on special projects to provide Corporate and M&A subject-matter expertise across Thomson Reuters for product development and innovation, including using and developing AI-based legal technology tools;
  • Develop or maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure that Practical Law content is topical and meets their needs;
  • Assist with sales demonstrations for new and potential customers and assist with marketing initiatives, such as hosting and conducting webinars, as requested; and
  • Support other Thomson Reuters products and initiatives in which Practical Law is foundational, as requested.
Qualifications and Experience

About You

  • A Juris Doctor and current license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction.
  • At least eight years’ experience working as a corporate and M&A lawyer at a law firm or as in-house counsel.
  • Significant expertise and practice experience in the following areas:
    • Corporate law (entity formation and ongoing governance).
    • Mergers and acquisitions (public or private, with familiarity in public company M&A preferred).
  • A sophisticated understanding of the needs and priorities of corporate and M&A lawyers, including experience drafting and negotiating M&A agreements and other corporate forms and standard practice materials, as well as advising boards and senior management on related matters.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Delaware General Corporation Law, Delaware Limited Liability Company Act, and Delaware case law.
  • The ability to understand and draw practical insights from legal and practice trends.
  • Enthusiasm for improving legal services, including through the use of AI-based legal technology tools.
  • Experience using AI-based legal technology tools, and curiosity and interest in expanding fluency and proficiency with AI in legal applications.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy; able to adapt to diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space and new technologies.
  • A passion for writing and excellent editing skills, including:
    • close attention to detail;
    • excellent command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English;
    • strong technical drafting skills; and
    • the ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply.
  • Ability to self-motivate with excellent management and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative and positive attitude, with the ability to foster relationships and support team members in both in-office and remote working environments.

Candidates selected for a second interview will be asked to take a writing test.

In the United States, Thomson Reuters offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, a 401k with company match, vacation, sick leave, holidays (including two mental health days), parental leave, and other programs. The base compensation range for eligible US locations is $116,900 - $217,100, with potential for an annual bonus. The posted close date is 10/10/2025.
