Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Sr. Specialist, Inventory Control to manage inventory integrity across multiple distribution centers and drive efficiency. The role centers on daily monitoring, reconciliation, and loss mitigation through compliant processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Analytics, or related field required.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is a strong asset.
  • 3-5 years of strong technical and analytical capabilities across multiple distribution centers.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (SAP) and data analysis/tools (MS365).
  • Experience in GDP, FDA, USDA regulatory requirements and multi-warehouse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily inventory transactions across multiple 3PL Distribution Centers.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between Boehringer and 3PL inventory; oversee cycle counts.
  • Analyze warehouse and transportation damages; coordinate product destructions per protocols.
  • Implement preventive measures to reduce losses and improve inventory position.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and update inventory records in ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Troubleshoot interface errors between internal and 3PL systems; generate inventory reports.
  • Communicate inventory status and risks to stakeholders; support audits and compliance reviews.

The Sr. Specialist, Inventory Control ensures the integrity and accuracy of inventory across multiple distribution centers by centralizing ownership of inventory processes and driving operational efficiency. This role manages daily inventory monitoring, reconciliation, and exception handling, while mitigating loss and damage through compliance-driven protocols. By leveraging advanced systems expertise and cross-functional collaboration, the position supports seamless order progression, optimizes inventory flows, and enables data-driven decision-making to meet customer expectations and sustain future business growth.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily inventory transactions and system interfaces across multiple 3PL Distribution Centers.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between Boehringer & 3PL inventory, oversee cycle counts, and investigate variances to maintain inventory integrity.
  • Analyze and address warehouse and transportation damages, coordinate product destructions and disposal in compliance with protocols.
  • Implement preventive measures to reduce future losses and improve overall inventory position.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

System Management

  • Maintain and update inventory records in ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Troubleshoot interface errors between internal systems and 3PL systems.
  • Generate and analyze inventory reports for decision-making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality, 3PL, Customer Care teams.
  • Ensure timely resolution of inventory-related issues impacting order fulfillment.
  • Communicate inventory status and risks to stakeholders.

Process Optimization

  • Develop and standardize inventory control procedures.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for cost-effectiveness.

Reporting & Metrics

  • Track key inventory KPIs (accuracy, shrinkage, damage rates).
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly inventory performance reports.
  • Support audits and compliance reviews.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Analytics, or related field required;
  • Advanced knowledge of inventory management systems and ERP platforms such as SAP is essential.
  • Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) are considered a strong asset.
  • 3-5 years of strong technical and analytical capabilities to manage complex inventory processes across multiple distribution centers.
  • Core skills include advanced proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP and strong MS365 capabilities for data analysis, reporting and visualization as well as expertise in inventory reconciliation, and the ability to troubleshoot system interface issues.
  • The role demands experience in inventory control within a multi-warehouse or 3PL environment, along with knowledge of regulatory compliance standards such as GDP, FDA, and USDA requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills are essential for identifying inefficiencies and implementing corrective actions.
  • Effective communication and collaboration competencies are critical for working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
