Job summary

The Eastern Upper Peninsula AppliTrack Consortium is seeking a Special Education Supervisor to lead and oversee special education programs for the district. This role requires collaboration with teachers, administrators, and families, ensuring compliance with special education regulations while supporting academic opportunities for students with disabilities.

Ideal candidates will have a valid Michigan teaching certificate, special education endorsement, and experience working in special education settings. The role involves active caseload management and development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate required.
• Endorsement in Special Education is necessary.
• Master's Degree in Special Education or Educational Leadership preferred.
• Minimum of three years successful experience in a special education setting.
• Knowledge of IDEA and special education laws is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of the district's special education programs and services.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education regulations.
• Monitor the implementation of IEPs and behavioral intervention plans.
• Assist in the development and evaluation of special education programs.

Skills

Strong leadership and organizational skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, staff, and community agencies

Knowledge of special education compliance, programming, and service delivery models

Ability to analyze student data and develop appropriate interventions and supports

Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills

Education

Valid Michigan teaching certificate
