Job summary

Qualifications

• Michigan Teacher Certificate with at least one area of endorsement in Special Education.
• Master’s Degree, preferably in Special Education.
• Full approval as a Supervisor of Special Education in Michigan.
• State of Michigan Administrator Certificate or ability to complete in three years.
• Three years of successful professional practice in Special Education or administrative experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others as a team member.
• Ability to meet the needs of the District.

Responsibilities

• Function as a Special Education Administrator for the district in conjunction with additional Special Education Director.
• Assist with administration of behavior support, including student engagement and attendance.
• Inform district leadership on relevant special education data including attendance and Catamaran System data.
• Act as Designee of the Superintendent in matters relating to Special Education.
• Administer student conduct and discipline for students with disabilities focusing on positive development.
• Oversee IEPs for students in local district programs and services.
• Continually monitor and evaluate the District's Special Education Programs for compliance and quality.
• Assist with corrective actions for monitoring and compliance violations.
• Keep accurate records of professional activities.
• Maintain professional competency by attending meetings, in-services, conferences, and workshops.
• Other duties as assigned by LEA Director and SISD Executive Director.
• Provide supervision of ancillary staff/services assigned.
