Job summary

The Mitchell Institute, an affiliate of the Air & Space Forces Association, seeks a Senior Resident Fellow for Spacepower Studies to lead research on spacepower strategy, concepts, and technologies. The role influences Mitchell Institute strategy, priorities, and events, while coordinating with external partners to advance spacepower policy and budget outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 10 years minimum experience in national security with focus on Spacepower strategy, concepts, and tech.
• Space Force or Air Force veteran with relevant experience preferred.
• Proven ability to build relationships at the highest levels of government, industry, and policy organizations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and assess Mitchell Institute research initiatives (≈65% of effort).
• Provide executive input on strategy and develop resources for research priorities.
• Draft reports and issue briefs; publish in journals and websites.
• Engage defense officials, Congress, policy and budget communities, and reporters to advance findings.
