Impulse Space is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Software Test Engineer in Redondo Beach to design, write, and debug tests for flight software. You will ensure software behaves correctly in orbit through simulation and hardware-in-the-loop setups, collaborating with a fast-paced GNC and software team.

This role emphasizes developing test plans, implementing Python-based tests, and debugging in C/C++. Docker containers, hardware emulators, and CI/CD automation are integral to daily work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related field.
• 3+ years developing test plans and test scripts for embedded applications.
• 5+ years of experience with Python and C++.

Description

As a Senior Spacecraft Software Test Engineer you will design, write, and debug tests to ensure that our flight software works as intended in orbit, working closely with a fast paced, agile software and GNC team. Your tests will include ‘test like you fly’ and ‘day in the life’ tests to execute the software like it will be operated in orbit in both the simulation and in a 'hardware in the loop' closed loop setup, integrating with hardware emulators and probing for off nominal situations and testing all of the commands through the integrated software.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related field

Additional Information

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
