Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Propulsion Systems Engineer II (Secret clearance) for the Space Systems team in Long Beach, CA. You will own propulsion system development end-to-end, lead design and validation activities, and drive system-level decisions with hands-on modelling and testing.

Responsibilities include requirements management, test planning, risk-based decision making, mentoring, and contributing to Rocket Lab’s engineering processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or related).
• 8+ years propulsion system development experience.
• Active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility.
• US citizenship is required by program rules.
• Experience with propulsion system modelling and validation using test data.

Responsibilities

• Own development of new or existing propulsion products or systems; act as technical lead for end-to-end development.
• Perform conceptual and detailed performance calculations, modelling, and design.
• Gather, define, and manage requirements.
• Provide systems engineering leadership within the team.
• Plan, execute, and analyze tests with instrumentation and data analysis.
• Communicate with project stakeholders inside and outside the team.
• Make risk-based technical decisions to optimal solutions.
• Drive project management including scheduling and prioritization of work.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence within the team.
• Contribute to process development and documentation for Rocket Lab propulsion.
