Job summary

Rocket Lab Corporation is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Propulsion Systems Engineer I for its Space Systems team in Long Beach, CA. You will own propulsion development, lead end-to-end design, and drive performance analyses for civil, commercial, and defense missions.

Qualifications include a BS in engineering, 5+ years in propulsion or related field, and active TS/SCI eligibility with US citizenship. Proficiency in Amesim/Simulink and end-to-end systems engineering is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or other technical discipline).
• 5+ years of propulsion system development experience or in a high-performance field.
• Active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility; US citizenship required.
• Expertise in propulsion modelling, static and transient analysis, and model validation using test data software such as Amesim, EcosimPro, Simulink, or Simscape.
• Experience with end-to-end development process (requirements, design, qualification, production, testing).
• Experience with Systems Engineering V model and risk-based decision making.
• Experience with propulsion systems using different propellants (storable) and with electrical/chemical propulsion.

Responsibilities

• Own development of new or existing propulsion products or systems as technical lead.
• Perform conceptual and detailed performance calculations and system modelling.
• Gather and manage requirements; lead systems engineering activities.
• Plan tests, instrumentation, data analysis, and result communication.
• Mentor team members and enforce standards of excellence.
• Contribute to Rocket Lab’s engineering process development and documentation.
