Job summary

True Anomaly, Inc. is seeking a Senior Motor Control Engineer to lead design, development, and integration of motor control systems for spacecraft mechanisms.

You will own end-to-end motor control from firmware to drive electronics, collaborating with mechanisms, avionics, GNC and test teams to deliver high-reliability solutions. The role requires 5+ years in motor control, strong fundamentals in control theory, and experience in embedded C/C++ and drive electronics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in motor control engineering.
  • Experience with stepper motor control and microstepping techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Own design and development of motor control systems for spacecraft mechanisms.
  • Develop motor control firmware for precision actuation with closed-loop servo control.
  • Design motor drive electronics including gate drivers and current sensing.
  • Develop control algorithms for precision pointing with stability and disturbance rejection.
  • Lead motor control architecture decisions and interface requirements for SADA/SADE.
  • Collaborate with GNC to integrate motor control into attitude control loops.
  • Lead software and hardware test plans and life testing.
  • Provide documentation and support through integration and on-orbit operations.
