Job summary

TalentRemedy is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Flight Software Engineer in Herndon, VA to develop software powering our spacecraft from driver-level code to integrated system functionality.

You will collaborate with flight hardware, architect, implement, test, and optimize software that flies on orbit, contributing to OBC FSW, telemetry, command handling, and payload operations. The role emphasizes hands-on RTOS/embedded Linux work and strong problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of spacecraft flight software experience on RTOS or embedded Linux platforms.
• Proficient in C, Python, and Git version control.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement flight software in C/C++ for spacecraft functions (radio, OBC, telemetry, command handling, payload tasking, fault protection).
• Develop and integrate low-level embedded drivers across RTOS and embedded Linux.
• Support hardware bring-up and integration; debug software, processors, FPGAs, sensors, radios, and payload electronics.
• Conduct unit testing, integrated software testing, and hardware-in-the-loop verification before launch.
• Build and maintain Python and C/C++ tools for ground support, automated testing, and data processing.
• Analyze on-orbit and ground test data to diagnose issues and drive improvements.
• Optimize software for Low-SWaP environments focusing on performance and resource usage.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering, RF, Electrical, AI&T, and Operations teams; participate in design/code reviews and iterative testing.
