Job summary

Varda Space Industries seeks a Senior Spacecraft Embedded Software Engineer to develop embedded flight software for spacecraft in orbit, on-site in El Segundo, CA. You will own the complete software life cycle from requirements to flight operations support.

The role requires expertise in real-time embedded systems, C++, and safety-critical software, with opportunities to work across bare metal, RTOS, and Linux environments. Eligible for stock options and long-term incentives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, math, physics, engineering or equivalent safety-critical software experience.
• 5+ years of experience in the development of spacecraft or safety-critical software.
• Experience with real-time embedded hardware/software systems.
• Experience with C++ language concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable firmware to control spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations.
• Own all aspects of software development, from design, testing, and integration.
• Scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades given open-ended problems.
• Write quality structured bare metal, RTOS, or Linux based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Build highly reliable and available software systems.
• Ensure system quality and performance through software test, verification, and validation (V&V) techniques.
