Job summary

Varda Space Industries seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for the Flight Software team to design, implement, and validate reliable software that governs spacecraft behavior in orbit. You will own end-to-end development from design to integration, ensuring safety-critical performance across the spacecraft, capsule, and bus.

Qualifications include a CS-related degree, 5+ years in safety-critical aerospace software, real-time embedded experience, and strong C++ skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, math, physics, engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in spacecraft or safety-critical software.
• Experience with real-time embedded hardware/software systems.
• Proficient in C++ with strong language concepts.
• Experience with safety-critical aerospace software.
• Knowledge of Python or Rust.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture, OS, data structures, and networking.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable firmware to control how the spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operate through the entire mission.
• Own all aspects of software development, from design, testing, and integration.
• Scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades given open-ended problems.
• Write quality structured bare metal, RTOS, or Linux based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Build highly reliable and available software systems.
• Ensure system quality and performance through software test, verification, and validation (V&V) techniques.
