Job summary

K2 Space seeks a highly skilled dynamics engineer to own loads and environments for ground transport through on-orbit operation. You will build tools, run simulations, correlate physics with data, and deliver reliable, mass-producible spacecraft designs.

Responsibilities include test planning, cross-disciplinary analysis, and collaboration with design engineers and external customers to deliver robust payload products. Strong Python and FEA experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or mathematics.
• 5+ years of work experience in dynamics from industry or academia.

Responsibilities

• Drive the definition and execution of dynamic testing at the component, subsystem, and vehicle level.
• Innovate on cross-disciplinary analysis and test methodologies.
• Evolve spacecraft dynamics approaches to optimize for the company’s business.
• Develop time- and frequency-domain physics models using finite element analysis and Python.
• Create software tools to support data processing and simulation frameworks.
• Collaborate with design engineers, analysts, and external customers to develop payload products.
• Apply first principles in developing frameworks for both dynamics and non-dynamics analyses.
• Perform code reviews for simulation and analysis tools.
• Derive loads, environments, and other design/testing criteria including vibration and jitter.
• Own coupled loads analysis (CLA) and model reductions for ascent/on-orbit environments.
