Job summary

Firefly Aerospace in Texas is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Spacecraft Avionics to design, develop, and test avionics systems for our spacecraft. You will develop system requirements, verification plans, and interface with software, mechanical, and propulsion teams to ensure an integrated solution.

You will lead the design and testing across the electrical architecture, participate in AIT and on-orbit operations, and contribute to design verification, qualification, and acceptance testing.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years aerospace component development, testing, or operations.
• Experience in analog and digital circuit design with proper test equipment.
• Experience performing trade studies and sensitivity analyses.
• Hands-on prototyping circuits and testing.
• Requirement writing and verification.
• Technical writing, SOP documentation.
• Proactive, self-starting mentality.
• Experience with Python.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical architecture, testing and integrating avionics components onto the spacecraft.
• Support assembly, integration, and test (AIT), launch integration, and on-orbit operations.
• Intuitively understand design decisions and direct assembly/test operations.
• Write and execute vehicle assembly procedures and electrical system validation processes.
• Lead high-level design and development of avionics systems for current and future spacecraft.
• Develop verification, qualification, and acceptance test plans and coordinate with engineers.
• Recommend spacecraft function and reliability upgrades based on experience.
• Requirement writing and verification for spacecraft avionics.
