Job summary

SAIC in Chantilly, VA seeks a Space System Infrastructure Systems Engineer to support a cutting-edge national defense space program. You will provide embedded SE/TA to a Senior Program Manager, translate CONOPs into infrastructure requirements, and guide MILCON processes from planning through execution under tight schedules.

The role requires extensive systems engineering experience, ability to work with external stakeholders, and a track record of delivering complex space system infrastructure

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 14+ years in relevant field; or Master's 12+ years; or PhD/JD 9+ years.
• Experience with MILCON projects using DD Form 1391 and guiding a program through budgeting, planning, programming, and legislative milestones.
• Ability to work with external stakeholders to navigate MILCON bureaucracy.
• Experience with space systems launch and operations.
• Ability to absorb extensive technical detail and logically formulate solutions for execution on tight schedules.
• Experience with Intelligence Community or DoD Satellite Program Office best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team-building and problem-solving skills with ability to work in government/contractor teams.
• Ability to facilitate technical discussions with SMEs and communicate with senior decision makers.

Responsibilities

• Provide SETA to a Senior Program Manager responsible for infrastructure for satellite production, launch and operations.
• Provide SME input on MILCON solutions and sites for AI&T facilities and launch support facilities.
• Translate CONOPs into infrastructure requirements and influence CONOPs as mission evolves.
• Support acquisition plans for the system|s infrastructure and assess contractor designs at milestone reviews.
• Develop processes and support plans for satellite operations center standup and integration with end-users.
• Develop and establish processes for satellite launch.
• Develop SOWs, review deliverables and ensure compliance with policies.
• Liaise between engineering teams, project managers, QA, and end-users to ensure mission success.
• Develop briefs to communicate status to Government and industry.
