Job summary

University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) Space Power Systems Office is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership in radioisotope power systems, space power architectures, and thermal systems. Lead multidisciplinary teams through design, analysis, and prototype qualification to transform concepts into flight-ready hardware.

You will define system architectures, manage technical risk, and develop verification strategies, collaborating with sponsors and internal teams

Qualifications

Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Systems Engineering, or related field.
Experience developing complex aerospace or highly integrated engineered systems.
10+ years in a related engineering position.
Ability to read and interpret models, drawings, schematics, and reports.
Experience with CAD, requirements/data management, or MBSE environments.
Experience with structural, thermal, electrical, dynamic, or reliability analyses.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
U.S. citizen and ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

Lead multidisciplinary Design, Assembly, and Test teams through prototype fabrication and qualification testing.
Develop assembly strategies, travelers, integration procedures, and test readiness docs.
Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, QA, safety, and PM during hardware builds.
Maintain engineering baselines and traceability across design, fabrication, and test results.
Mentor engineers and technicians, promote best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
