Job summary

K2 Space Corporation in Los Angeles is seeking a senior engineer to build modeling and simulation capabilities for national security spacecraft. You will design, verify, and operate software that runs some of the largest satellites, and mentor other engineers.

In 3–6 months you will extend tools for classified contexts, enable multi-spacecraft and mission-level simulations, and inform mission decisions. This on-site role requires TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship.

Qualifications

• Active U.S. government security clearance (any level) or recent clearance, and US citizenship.
• Experience on classified national security programs and secure/SCIF environments.
• Bachelor's degree in physics, aerospace/mechanical/electrical engineering, computer science, math, or a STEM field.
• 5+ years of professional modeling and simulation experience.
• Development experience in Rust, C++, or similar.
• Experience with NumPy/SciPy, Julia, MATLAB, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Develop mission-level modeling and simulation of national security space missions, capturing objectives, environments, and constraints.
• Model and analyze constellation-level capability and performance against mission requirements.
• Support work on classified programs in accordance with security requirements.
• Create and maintain simulation software infrastructure for high-power spacecraft.
• Develop physics-based software models of subsystems (propulsion, attitude control, power, communications).
• Create robust tools for rapid deployment of quality code.
• Perform data analysis and anomaly investigation to identify on-orbit problems.
• Support integration and testing of spacecraft subsystems.
• Set technical direction, review designs and code, mentor junior engineers.
