Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Analyst for Capital Markets & Risks to bolster external reporting controls from its McLean, VA location. This role leads end-to-end risk assessments, control design, testing and quarterly certifications across lines of business with strong ownership and independent delivery.

You will collaborate with Controllers, 1st and 2nd line risk teams, as well as internal and external auditors to communicate risks and drive remediation actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or military experience required.
• 3+ years experience in Accounting, Financial Reporting, Internal Controls or Audit.
• 4+ years auditing and control evaluations preferred.
• 3+ years experience with SOX controls at a Big Four firm preferred.
• Certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CISA are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead risk management across lines of business including scope, control design, testing, and quarterly certifications.
• Coordinate with business process performers, risk offices, and auditors to report risks and remediation actions.
• Collaborate on issue investigations, root cause analysis, and remediation guidance.
• Support Process Level Risk Assessments across partner teams.
• Provide risk advisory for major projects across Finance.
• Work with Controllers and oversight teams to tailor risk support.
• Support Regulatory Change Management and applicability considerations.
• Assist in technology and business transformation risk controls.
• Prepare quarterly stakeholder reporting on control performance.
