About the Role

Our client, a leading name in the vibrant arts and entertainment industry within Welkom , is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sound Engineer. This position is paramount to delivering exceptional audio experiences for a diverse range of productions, including live performances, theatrical shows, and broadcast events. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical understanding of audio systems, acoustics, and mixing techniques, coupled with a refined artistic sensibility for sound design. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of audio operations, ensuring crystal-clear sound reproduction and innovative audio solutions that enhance audience engagement. Key Responsibilities

• Design, set up, and operate sound systems for live events, theatre productions, and other entertainment formats.
• Mix live sound for performances, ensuring optimal audio quality, balance, and clarity for both performers and audiences.
• Record, edit, and mix audio for post-production, including voiceovers, sound effects, and music.
• Collaborate with directors, musicians, and other production personnel to understand and achieve desired sound aesthetics.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any audio-related technical issues promptly and efficiently during setup, rehearsals, and performances.
• Maintain and manage all audio equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and properly calibrated.
• Stay current with advancements in audio technology, software, and techniques.
• Develop and implement sound design concepts that enhance the overall production experience.
• Manage audio budgets and inventory effectively.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior sound technicians as required.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Sound Engineer, with a strong focus on live sound and/or theatre sound. Proven expertise in operating digital mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha CL/QL series, Midas PRO series), audio interfaces, and microphones. Proficiency in audio editing and mixing software such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live. Solid understanding of acoustics, signal flow, and audio system calibration. Experience with sound system troubleshooting and repair. Excellent listening skills and a keen ear for detail in audio reproduction. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a production team. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as production schedules demand. A portfolio or demonstrated experience in creative sound design is highly advantageous. Must be based in or able to commute regularly to Welkom .
