Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of anatomy including vascular/cardiology.
• Proficient in two or more ultrasound procedures: abdomen, vascular, or cardiac.
• Aseptic technique knowledge.
• Knowledge of accreditation policies and procedures to support department accreditation.
• Ability to lead, delegate, and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and patient service skills.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a resource for employees and students; provides training and direction.
• Assists with interviewing and staff development; addresses performance concerns.
• Interprets department policies and updates staff on changes.
• Serves as a technical resource and preceptor for staff and students; collaborates across departments.
• Operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, or cardiac scans.
• Reviews medical records to verify exam accuracy and orders.
• Selects transducers and settings for accurate examinations; labels images correctly.
• Maintains records and enters data into radiology information systems; documents billing codes.
• Identifies equipment issues and performs QA tests; reports malfunctions and evaluates new products.
• Assists with patient positioning and transport; lifts and moves patients as needed.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care and growth/development considerations.
