Job summary

RBC Capital Markets, LLC is seeking a Solutions Architect to design large-scale, secure, and scalable architectures across product families. You will lead governance, document architectures, and mentor teams while delivering end-to-end technical solutions on cloud-native platforms.

You will evaluate technologies, drive standards, and partner with business stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with RBC architecture strategy.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience developing RESTful APIs and SOAP webservices using Java or .Net based microservice architectures on cloud native platforms like OpenShift, Cloud Foundry.
• Familiarity with modern distributed computing concepts and IAAS / PaaS on Azure and AWS including containers, serverless, service meshes, immutable architectures, declarative APIs.
• Strong understanding of application security best practices including encryption for storage and transmission (APIs), IAM concepts like SSO and federation, and token/certificate management.
• Extensive experience with database development using SQL Server, MySQL or Oracle.
• Thorough understanding of RDBMS design and writing queries.
• Thorough understanding of web-based architecture including webservers, firewalls, CDNs, frameworks and interoperability.

Responsibilities

• Design large or complex solutions, including system and application architecture, in accordance with RBC standards.
• Create end-to-end enterprise architectures that are secure, extensible, available, performant, scalable, and compliant with RBC standards.
• Identify weaknesses and optimize existing architectures and design improvements.
• Identify and apply tooling to measure attributes, develop and monitor KPIs and KRIs.
• Lead RBC solution governance from inception to completion, documenting architectures and proposing alternate solutions.
• Mentor development teams in best practices, including hands-on PoCs to demonstrate architectural patterns.
• Manage implementation of large complex initiatives, plan technical development activities and communicate risks.
• Stay updated on industry trends and applying best practices across frontend, backend, platform and data architecture.
