Job Description Summary
Under the general direction of the GEV NAM Commercial Operations Director, the Senior System Architect in the energy sector leads the pre and post sales design, development, and implementation of complex Private LTE and other related communication infrastructure solutions. The primary focus will be to help drive PLTE solution adoption through technical expertise in dimensioning and designing next generation PLTE networks according to the needs and requirements of the client. These solutions support the modernization and operation of critical infrastructure communications networks and enable a range of grid field applications.
Their will work encompass working alongside business development and sales teams to analyze business needs, translate them into technical specifications, and ensure alignment with the company's overall technology strategy. Daily interaction often involves interfacing with cross-functional teams, guiding technology roadmaps, and staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, bridging the collaboration between the tendering and sales functions.
This role is customer facing, from field engineer level to company Vice President and must possess experience interfacing as a trusted technical advisor at every phase. This position will require experience with presenting, demonstrating, and supporting proof of concepts to customers. This is a seasoned senior level system architect engineer.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Interface with internal and external customers, identify customer needs
Lead the team in the overall systems solution offered to Grid Automation customers
Lead deal structure development and maximize business product pull-through as well as support cross selling the broader GE portfolio
Work closely with the North America sales teams as a key partner in the strategy development to create winning proposals which drive to meet or exceed the region’s orders plan
Support market level pricing indicators and pricing strategy
Lead and/or support customer negotiations
Support the proposal process improvement and proposal quality metrics
Support defining project materials and obtain vendor quotations as needed
Identify technical risks including new product development needs in conjunction with tendering team to secure necessary business commitments to mitigate any risks
Follow all GEV Corporate and local policies and procedures including but not limited to Integrity, Diversity, Proprietary Information, Conflict of Interest, QMS and EHS
Perform other related duties as required for success of this position
Travel in U.S. and Canada is required to support the Sales, Business Development and Proposal teams.
Required Qualifications
MBA or Master’s Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 10 years of experience in similar role or senior project engineering role
OR knowledge level is comparable to equivalent of 20 years’ experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)
Desired Characteristics
Significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Architecture and Design.
High Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Ability to influence and lead cross functional teams
Experience in developing complex systems proposals
Expertise with network management software (NMS), device management (DM), and SIM management required
Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Knowledge and experience designing complex PLTE infrastructure solutions in the utility and energy sector preferred. Network design certifications also preferred but not required.
Wireless 4G/5G cellular (private and public) LTE, LAN, WAN, network engineering experience required
Experience and knowledge of LTE router, switches, VPN technologies (L2 & L3 GRE, IPSec, DMVPN), routing protocols preferred
Knowledge and understanding of public and private wireless radio frequency technologies/protocols and how those technologies apply to the utility sector applications is required
Familiarity with the use and function of Salesforce (SFDC) tools
Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations
Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on specific topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view
The base pay range for this position is 131,700.00 - 193,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% variable incentive bonus annually. This posting is expected to close on 8/25/25.
