Job summary

Xumo, a joint venture between Comcast and Charter Communications, seeks a Senior Solutions Architect to provide technical leadership across Backend, CMS, Video, and AdTech. You will own the architecture for large cross-domain initiatives, influence long-term platform evolution, and drive reliability, scalability, and monetization strategies.

Office-based in Irvine, CA with in-person work four days a week and one remote day.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing and delivering distributed, cloud-native systems at scale, ideally involving Google Cloud.
• 10+ years of experience as a software engineer with a strong focus on Java backend development.
• Track record of leading large, cross-team initiatives independently.
• Experience delivering complex systems with multi-month timelines.
• Experience working with executive, product and business stakeholders to align technical investments with strategic objectives.
• Experience evaluating and integrating third-party platforms within a complex enterprise ecosystem.
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design for large-scale, multi-team initiatives across backend systems, CMS platforms, video workflows, and advertising systems.
• Define scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions using cloud-native microservices architectures.
• Drive cross-team alignment, identify dependencies, and coordinate delivery across engineering groups.
• Provide architectural leadership across video transcoding, monetization platforms, ad tech, and CMS scheduling systems.
• Represent the company’s technical architecture with external partners and vendors.
• Establish best practices in reliability, observability, scalability, and security with DevOps.
• Define and maintain a 2–5 year architectural roadmap.
• Mentor engineers and elevate architectural standards.
• Produce clear technical documentation and communicate with stakeholders.
