Job description

Solution Architect – Microsoft Dynamics/CRM
Position Overview

We are seeking a collaborative and service-oriented Solution Architect to support the design and development of technology solutions for a division that delivers preventive social services to the public. The ideal candidate will embody a servant-leader mindset and approach architecture as a collaborative discipline focused on serving users, program teams, stakeholders, and the communities supported by our systems.

This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, business acumen, facilitation skills, and emotional intelligence. The Solution Architect will work closely with product leadership, Agile delivery teams, technical teams, business partners, and executive stakeholders to translate program needs into scalable, secure, and sustainable technology solutions.

Accountability, reliability, consistency, and respect for established operating procedures are essential to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture and Technical Leadership
  • Develop scalable solution architectures that align technical requirements with functional and business needs.
  • Lead discovery sessions to understand business processes, technical constraints, stakeholder needs, and downstream dependencies.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for business partners and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitate development activities in accordance with approved architecture, design standards, security requirements, and program strategy.
  • Provide architectural guidance for Microsoft Dynamics or a comparable CRM and case-management platform.
  • Collaborate with project-level architects and technical leaders to ensure team-level designs align with enterprise architecture decisions.
  • Identify architectural risks, integration challenges, security concerns, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Document architecture decisions, solution designs, assumptions, dependencies, and recommendations.
  • Communicate executive-level architectural directives to the Product Manager and Scrum Lead so that work can be prioritized, tracked, and incorporated into sprint capacity.
  • Provide the Product Manager with an initial overview and periodic updates regarding project-level Solution Architect sessions, including topics discussed, decisions made, and potential impacts on the team.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build productive working relationships with product leaders, Scrum teams, developers, business analysts, program representatives, and executive stakeholders.
  • Assert technical expertise while remaining open to the perspectives and ideas of other team members.
  • Negotiate positive outcomes when technical, business, customer, or project priorities conflict.
  • Participate actively in individual and group knowledge-transfer sessions during onboarding and throughout the engagement.
  • Observe project meetings and engage key stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of the project vision, strategy, operating environment, and program needs.
  • Work collaboratively on deliverables rather than operating primarily as an independent contributor, particularly during the first four to six weeks.
  • Demonstrate a service-oriented approach to supporting a public-sector program serving children, families, and communities.
Agile Delivery and Work Management
  • Attend and actively participate in all required Agile ceremonies, including:

  • Intact and Preventative Services Weekly Steering Committee meetings
  • Join meetings promptly and remain camera-ready during official Agile ceremonies.
  • Complete work assigned through JIRA by the Scrum Lead and aligned with established sprint priorities.
  • Coordinate new or executive-directed architectural work with the Product Manager and Scrum Lead before beginning the assignment.
  • Support accurate sprint planning by communicating capacity needs, emerging dependencies, risks, and competing priorities.
  • Provide regular progress updates and promptly escalation issues that could affect scope, schedule, security, integration, or program outcomes.
Priority Initiatives

The Solution Architect will provide technical leadership and design support for initiatives that may include:

  • Developing a security framework that controls access to cases and teams based on case assignments, team assignments, user roles, and organizational responsibilities.
  • Helping define the concept and technical function of a business unit within the security framework.
  • Clarifying and finalizing the integration model for Family Engagement and the Core Solution.
  • Designing a non-hotline intake process that enables preventive-services and child-welfare cases to be opened when they do not originate from a hotline call or investigation.
  • Establishing appropriate security boundaries between child-welfare and prevention cases.
  • Defining mechanisms for identifying and tracking different program types within cases.
  • Designing queues to replace legacy-system mailboxes and support the efficient routing of cases between teams, including routing within and across business units.
  • Identifying downstream dependencies and potential impacts involving finance, federal reporting, integrations, compliance, and other program areas.
  • Ensuring proposed designs are secure, maintainable, scalable, and aligned with public-sector case-management requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience designing solutions within Microsoft Dynamics or a comparable CRM platform.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to non-technical business partners.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, Dynamics 365 security models, workflows, integrations, and business-unit structures.
  • Experience designing solutions involving sensitive case information, role-based security, privacy requirements, and cross-program data boundaries.
  • Knowledge of finance, federal reporting, and compliance dependencies within public-sector human-services programs.
  • Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Collaborative technical leadership
  • Sound professional judgment
  • Customer and community focus
  • Clear and transparent communication
  • Accountability and dependability
  • Adaptability in a complex stakeholder environment
  • The ability to influence through demonstrated expertise rather than positional authority
  • A commitment to achieving positive outcomes for both business and technical teams
The first 90 days will include significant collaboration, knowledge transfer, and stakeholder engagement. During this period, the Solution Architect will:
