Job summary

Terabase Energy seeks two Mechanical Design Engineers for an onsite role in Davis, CA, with up to 25% travel to customer sites and facilities along the West Coast. You will design, prototype, validate and iterate mechanical components for mass production in solar deployment projects.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 10 years of design and R&D experience, strong CAD (SolidWorks) and FEA skills, and a proactive, independent work style.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 10 years of mechanical design, product development, and mass-production experience.
• Hands-on prototyping and troubleshooting demonstrated.
• Knowledge of sheet metal, machining, casting, weldments, and injection molding.
• Knowledge of motion control systems, pneumatics/electric actuators, and DC/stepper motor sizing.
• CAD proficiency with SolidWorks; GD&T and 3D/2D drafting.
• Experience with FEA tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, SolidWorks Simulation.
• Ability to work independently with strong decision making.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Own all phases of product development from concept to production drawings.
• Iterate designs quickly to optimize product configuration.
• Perform validation and analyses on mechanical designs.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Collaborate during design reviews with cross-functional teams.
