Senior Software Test Engineer – Federal Legacy Healthcare/Electronic Medical Record Systems

Our work depends on a senior software test engineer joining our team to support our Federal Legacy EHR software development and support contract. This is a remote-based role. The candidate must live in the U.S.

At GDIT, we put our people first. As a Senior Software Test Engineer supporting Indian Health Services you will be trusted to work with other testers, clinicians, developers, and federal staff to document changes and requirements for clinical Legacy applications.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and implement quality control methodologies to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, guidelines and procedures.
  • Develop and implement test cases and procedures.
  • Review and analyze system specifications.
  • Collaborate with QA Engineers and software developers to develop effective strategies and test plans.
  • Execute manual test cases and analyze results.
  • Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Track and report test results, troubleshoot, and coordinate fixes.
  • Inform Team Leads and other designated management officials of results of testing activities.
  • Document, track, and escalate issues as appropriate, using Azure DevOps to document identified bugs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology and best practices relevant to the industry.
  • Perform analysis of documented user requirements and direct or assist in the design of test plans in support of user requirements for moderately complex to very complex software/hardware applications.
  • Review user application system requirements documentation; design, define and document unit and application test plans.
  • Transform test plans into test scripts and execute those scripts.
  • May participate in all phases of risk management assessment and software/hardware development under the direction of a Test Lead.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper execution of test scripts and documentation of test results in test logs or defect tracking systems.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the test designs and documentation support all applicable client, agency or industry standards, timelines and budgets.
  • Responsible for the development and entry of test data to be used in performing the required tests.
  • Responsible that testing conclusions and recommendations are fully supported by test results, and those project managers are fully informed of testing status and application deviations from documented user requirements.
  • Responsible for and/or assist in the analysis of test results, document conclusions and make recommendations as supported by such analysis.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

What You Will Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years of intensive and progressive experience performing software testing for complex to highly complex software hardware applications and/or systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in quality assurance and software engineering.
  • Experience with Federal Health IT, Indian Health Service RPMS, EHR systems, Practice Management Application Suite, and Meaningful Use.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps.
  • Demonstrated relevant work experience in development or testing role.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain technical issues clearly/accurately to technical/non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team with adjusting priorities and deadlines.
  • Understanding of Agile processes and the related QA lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to work on a remote/distributed team.
Preferred Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of the VA and IHS environments, RPMS or legacy VISTA.
  • Agile certification such as Scrum Alliance CSM or Scaled Agile SAFe.

Location: Remote within the USA

Clearance Level: Requires the ability to pass an IHS background check and meet the residency requirement for having resided in the US at least three out of the last five years in order to obtain an appropriate level Public Trust clearance.

The likely salary range for this position is $78,200 - $105,800. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
