Job summary

Abbott is a global healthcare leader focused on diabetes care and monitoring technologies in Milpitas, CA. We are seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer to drive verification and validation across the development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality software for our sensing and analytics products.

You will perform test design, automation, and end-to-end validation in an Agile environment, mentor teammates, and contribute to process improvements to deliver reliable medical software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a scientific/engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years in Software Testing and/or Software Quality Assurance.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a regulated industry.
• Experience testing mobile applications.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete software testing for development user stories in an Agile SDLC.
• Review specifications or requirements and create/execute verification test cases.
• Investigate and report bugs; verify fixes.
• Perform exploratory testing, end-to-end testing, and develop test datasets; run automation scripts.
• Create verification and validation test plans, test reports, trace matrices; review with dev/QA.
• Review test deliverables for accuracy and coverage; ensure adequate test coverage.
• Review code diffs and develop robust regression test strategy.
• Mentor junior team members; ensure quality and compliance.
• Provide feedback to improve the Agile SDLC process.

What You’ll Do

• Complete software testing and activities for development user stories within an Agile SDLC process
• Review System Specifications/Requirements documents, user stories and create verification test cases (based on those requirements) and execute test cases.
• Investigate and report unexpected events, issues or software bugs. Verify fixes
• Perform exploratory testing, system level end to end testing, develop test datasets and execute automation scripts (to ensure application software releases are of high quality)
• Create verification and validation test plans, test reports, trace matrices and review with relevant stakeholders (dev and quality)
• Review deliverables/activities as identified in the test plans for accuracy, consistency, completeness and compliance. Ensure adequate test coverage for every release
• Review code diff analysis and develop robust regression test strategy
• Mentor and provide day to day guidance to the junior members of the software test team. Review work to ensure compliance and quality
• Provide feedback and suggest improvements to the Agile SDLC process

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in a scientific, technical, or engineering discipline.
• 5 years’ experience in Software Testing and/or Software Quality Assurance.
• 2 years’ experience of working in a regulated industry
• Must be technically strong and have experience testing mobile applications
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical Device experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in an agile development environment preferred.
• Experience with embedded systems and integration testing with external systems preferred
• Cyber security, medical mobile applications or cloud computing experience preferred.

The base pay for this position is $90,000.00 – $180,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
